Day 2 - Truro to Tavistock

Short version: Up hill, down hill, up hill, down hill- repeat endlessly.

Long version: We set off from Truro towards St Austell, then took the detour down to the sea at Charlestown.  There was a tall ship moored and a quaint harbour with super views along the craggy coast.

On to Liskeard for lunch - a roll from a really old fashioned bakers shop.
By this time, Robert had become thoroughly fed up with gears that wouldn't change down - really not helpful half way up a hill.

When we reached Tavistock, we went looking for a bike shop.  We found one, but the bike mechanic had just left.  We decided to stay and get Robert's bike fixed in the morning.

The hills were definitely a challenge today- they were just unrelenting.  However, lots of hills means great views at the top and fantastic rides downhill.

Leg index 4/10 - happy to stop
Saddle sore index 3/10. Better than I thought it would be.
Hill index: 8/10- beastly up, divine down
Breakages / punctures: 1

The pictures are Tavistock, The Charlestown harbour and looking back down one of the many hills.

  2. It feels good to follow your trip! Feels like I am doing it as well, just from the comfort(?) of my office desk. Good luck and hope you have as few breakdowns/punctures as possible.
